1. INVITE PEOPLE PERSONALLY AND EARLY
If you are reading this now and haven't started the process, you may be pretty far behind already. Fight the urge to throw out a blanket invite on Facebook, and pinpoint a few key people to have over. Who have you been praying for an opportunity to spend some additional time with for the sake of sharing the Gospel?
2. GET THE VIBE RIGHT
Will you be inviting die-hard football fans, or kitchen dwellers who occasionally look in to see if the team in those cute uniforms is still winning? Knowing your audience is important. Plan the vibe of the party to match your invite list.
3. BE A CONNECTER
Some of the fun of a super bowl party is connecting neighbors, coworkers, and friends from grade-school all in the same room. Find way to help people connect across the room. Think through some conversation starters ahead of time to help people enjoy each other's company.
4. HAVE GREAT FOOD
People are coming over for a party! Don't underwhelm them with stale pretzels in an ashtray. You can do better! Consider potential food restrictions some people might have, and always include a healthy option for those who may be 1 month in to a new years resolution, and don't want to join in on the gluttonous behavior.
5. FOLLOW UP WITH ANOTHER TIME TO HANG OUT
From a missional standpoint, this night is just a spark to open up the dialogue for further Gospel centered conversations most likely at another time. Don't feel like you need to turn off the halftime show and share a devotional, or mute the commercials for 90 seconds of Jesus. Use this night as an opportunity to invite someone to coffee, community group, or a Worship gathering.
