I had the great opportunity this week to hear Pastor Phil Moser speak at on the subject of anxiety and change from Philippians 4. I took pretty good notes, and want to share the highlights with you. The big idea is captured by the Wayne Dyer quote "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."
Change how you think about worry - God commands us not to worry
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Change how you think about prayer - Make it your pattern not your panic button
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Change what you think about - It is your mind, you are response-able to control it
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things
What is it that you need to change the way you look at? What is it that anxiety is keeping you from seeing? What does the Bible have to say about your situation?
